programmatically stop USB flash drive

Hello,

I've written an application that updates itself when the appropriate USB
flash drive is installed in the system, what I can't figure out is how to
"Safely Remove Hardware" from code and allow the user to just pull the drive
when the update process is complete.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to programmatically stop the USB drive are
greatly appreciated.
