The problem has already been identified.  I forwarded the details to
Indy's developers, but no reply yet.

Basically, when sending a MIME-encoded message with the
TIdMessage.Body property empty, TIdMessageClient intentionally clears
all previously known MIME boundaries from the TIdMessage's internal
list and generates a new starting boundry, but it does not update the
boundaries of any existing message parts that already have boundaries
assigned to them.
