That is not what I was asking. Why do you think that Indy 10 is the
downfall of Indy?

Indy 9 is in a maintenance mode. It will not be getting any new features,
only occasional bug fixes. It is good enough for most hings, but Indy 10 is
what you will have to use eventually moving into the future.

Yes, Indy 8 does have a read timeout for ReadLn().

Not locally, no. But that does not mean that it is not available for
download when needed.

Because your own code shows it. And because the Indy 8 source code on the
Indy website shows that a read timeout exists. And yes, the ReadLnTimedOut
property exists in Indy 8 as well.

No, because I do not trust Delphi's auto-complete features. They are known
to be buggy at times and not show everything. I only trust the actual
source code.
