I'm not sure I correctly understand your question. Maybe you can reformulate
it ?
Anyway here is my answer: no need to have multiple network card to have
multiple IP addresses: you can assign several IP addresses to a single
network card with modern OS.
If you like, of course you may have several network card each one with his
own unique IP address. If you want the computer to route traffic between the
networks, then you must enable IP routing at the OS level.
