Video in SEO issues

Hi,

I've got a couple of questions here actually:

I'm running a small business producing streaming video for people's
websites. I've been using a third-party hosting solution for the
videos, although I do have the option now of hosting them on my own
website's server. Would the fact that my client's websites have links
to my videos positively impact on my search engine listing, in terms of
providing me with inbound links?

Along with this, does inbound links have to point to an actual webpage,
or can it just be a file (like a video or audio stream)?  I am thinking
that should I host their videos, perhaps I should be placing them
inside html pages, so they end up linking to those from their site.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Also, if anyone knows of ways
you can optimise searches for video, or use video as a SEO tool, please
let me know!
