Hi all,
A client has asked me to switch their website to a new hosting firm,
due to poor service with the existing host. We have typically used
1And1 with no problems, and have setup a new account with them. The
problem occurs due to how SSIs are handled by the hosts.
The site is currntly hosted on a Linuz box running Apache (not sure of
versions). There are several *.html and *.htm pages that use SSIs with
no problem. However, 1And1 specifies that SSIs will only be parsed if
files have *.shtm or *.shtml extensions.
The client's marketing consultant has stated that changing file
extensions will seriously damage search engine rankings. Is this
correct?
Thanks in advance for any info and/or tips,
Erik Domingo
