How Google reads links

Subject:How Google reads links

When Google spiders my Web site, does it read the actual text in links,
as well as registering the links themselves? So, if someone searches on
words that form an incomplete link...for example, a link to fast red
cars...does it read "red cars" as well as "fast red cars?"  What
happens if they do an exact phrase search..."red cars" as opposed to
the whole link of "fast red cars?"  Will Google pick up on the wording
in the partial link?  Or, is a link read as a single entity only?
