Hi again,
I have hired someone to do SEO for me more than a month ago. They said they
could promote my website to the top 3 in google.co.uk within a month. I said
ok, as I did not have to pay any upfront fees.
Weeks went by, three or some, and I asked how it is progressing. They said
it would be hard in google as the site design and structure was bad. I
checked, yes it was. Not at all my job, though :)
I did some onsite optimization, well, a lot of it around two weeks ago.
Only to my home page.
Now, it is 16 they say. And they are right. But, here is what I do not get.
Search results are for "example.com", sort of brackets or something. At the
same time, radio buttons, 'the web' and 'pages from the uk' are not checked.
When I checked each of them, my site disappears from 16 to I do not know
where. Can't find it either 'in the web', or in 'pages from the uk'. What
does these "brackets" do??? From my access log I cannot find any vistors who
used brackets...
Could you explain what it does?
Now, they say they want to use 'paid catalogues' as they run out of
posibilities of 'no-cost positioning' of my site. (I try to translate from
Polish here :))
Jeez, I check links to my site by entering link:www.example.com to google,
and no documents are returned. None, null, zero. What are they trying to say
then?
What I suppose happened, as no links were obtained for my site, either by
them or me, the increase in ranking was caused by my onsite optimization I
did two weeks back. What I did?
- entering all alt tags;
- meta keywords;
- meta description;
- improving keyword density;
- improving keyword placement on the page;
I also submitted sitemap to google, two days ago, and only from that moment
all my pages are indexed by google.
I am not going to pay for their service if the increase was caused by me not
them.
I tried to show you the whole background. Now please tell me what you think.
Some advice would be priceless :)
What should I do with them? By the lack of links to my site, I suppose
they've done nothing. Maybe I am wrong, but what else could they do, if I
did onsite optimization myself?
